Pain caused from a TMJ disorder can significantly disrupt your daily routine. At Cary Smiles, we strive to help you find much needed relief through an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan. Dr. Shah will first evaluate your symptoms and assess the health and movement of your jaw to determine if you have a TMJ disorder. If you do, he will discuss an appropriate course of action that may involve an occlusal (mouth) guard or alternative treatment. We are able to make your custom mouth guard right in our Cary office using a 3D printer.

We may also suggest a custom made oral appliance, known as a splint, to help reduce pressure on the TMJ joint that causes you pain. Lastly, Botox® injections can help the muscles in your jaw to relax which results in less tension and headache relief.
